Roslyn

Ten minutes from Camp Juniper, Roslyn rewards wandering. Skip the checklist. Park once, grab a coffee, browse a bookstore, peek into the old brick buildings, and let the afternoon unfold. Once a coal mining town, today it's one of the Northwest's most enjoyable small towns to explore.

Lake Cle Elum surrounded by forested mountains near Roslyn, Washington

The Lake

Lake Cle Elum changes with the season. Summer brings long days on the water, while the receding shoreline later in the year reveals driftwood, old stumps, and miles of beach to wander. Swim, paddle, explore—or just find a log and stay awhile.

The Road Out

Beyond town, the pavement gives way to forest roads, trailheads, beaches, and places where the directions become less precise. You don’t need a vintage wagon to explore from here, but it certainly would look the part.

Every Season Feels Different

Crossing the mountains has a way of making the weekend feel farther from home than it really is. Summer revolves around the lake, fall brings cool nights and bright trees, winter settles everything under snow, and spring wakes it all back up. There’s something worth coming over for in every season.

Worth The Drive

Stay a few nights and there’s plenty farther afield—Teanaway, Blewett Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, Thorp, and Leavenworth all make easy day trips before heading back to the cabin.

Then Come Back

The goal isn't to check everything off a list. Explore a little. Find a favorite trail or coffee shop. Spend an afternoon at the lake. Then head back to Camp Juniper, pour something to drink, and settle into the slower pace that brought you here in the first place.
